didiE – DIDIER EICHENBERGER

Didier Eichenberger is a Swiss artist whose first 11 years of life in Kinshasa, Africa, continue to resonate deeply in his work. He draws on a childhood characterized by vibrant colors, rhythmic energy, and the rich textures of nature. His works combine materials such as nails and rope into wall-mounted compositions that hover somewhere between painting and ritual object. These physical materials carry emotional significance—they symbolize tension, resilience, and the invisible threads that connect.

SCULPTURE OBJECT ART

The sculpture series presents artfully crafted bear figures, refined with gold leaf, exotic feathers, and bells. In dynamic poses, they are reminiscent of nostalgically romanticized circus performances. The creative use of nails is striking; they serve not as a connecting element but as a purely decorative design element. This creates a tense surface with a distinctive material aesthetic. The combination of familiar elements in an unusual context lends the works a surreal feel. The sculptures consciously oscillate between playfulness and artistic reflection, subtly drawing on the traditions of Surrealism.

PICTURES – OBJECT PICTURES

The artistic works oscillate between narrative and abstraction, referencing cultural and personal levels of memory without committing to a single, unequivocal meaning. They open up a space for association, interpretation, and quiet reflection. The creative process is both physical and meditative—characterized by gesture, repetition, and form as a means of discovering meaning. The combination of proximity and distance creates an artistic language rooted in the space between. There, memories transform into visual forms of expression that remain simultaneously complex, poetic, and open.

AFRIKART
Info

In her upcoming exhibition, Sonja Lacher presents an impressive photographic journey through the African landscape. With a passion for the wild nature that has accompanied her since her early twenties, she captures vast, untouched landscapes and wildlife through a personal lens—one that finds structure, simplicity, and calm graphic beauty even in the most chaotic scenes.
Although her background is not rooted in the traditional art world, Sonja’s perspective is undeniably artistic. Her approach combines documentary with abstraction: while her images depict real places, they are carefully composed to emphasize form, contrast, and the hidden design of the natural world. Shaped by years of traveling to remote locations such as Greenland and the Arctic, her work reflects a fascination with the raw and pristine.
Africa, with its endless visual richness, continually draws her back. Each journey opens new perspectives and offers not only images but also experiences that shape her artistic voice.
